Neurofeedback:
Neurofeedback is a therapeutic approach that can help individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and trauma-related conditions. Neurofeedback can provide benefits in many areas.
NeurOptimal is approved by the FDA as a wellness treatment.
Some ways that NeurOptimal neurofeedback can help:
-
Brain regulation: Neurofeedback helps individuals learn to self-regulate their brain activity. For those with PTSD, this can mean gaining control over hyperarousal and other dysregulated brain states associated with trauma.
-
Reducing hypervigilance: By training the brain to maintain calmer states, neurofeedback can help reduce the hypervigilance common in PTSD sufferers.
-
Improving sleep: Many trauma survivors struggle with sleep disturbances. Neurofeedback can help normalize brainwave patterns associated with healthy sleep cycles.
-
Decreasing intrusive thoughts: The technique may help reduce the frequency and intensity of intrusive memories or flashbacks.
-
Enhancing emotional regulation: By improving overall brain function, neurofeedback can support better emotional regulation, helping individuals manage anxiety, anger, and other intense emotions.
-
Complimenting other therapies: Neurofeedback can be used in conjunction with other evidence-based treatments for PTSD, potentially enhancing their effectiveness.
-
Non-invasive approach: As a non-pharmacological intervention, neurofeedback offers a treatment option with minimal side effects.

NeurOptimal neurofeedback is approved by the FDA as a wellness treatment.
EMDR Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR Therapy) is an evidence-based approach to treating trauma and PTSD, as well as a wide range of other mental health issues. In EMDR, clients perform specific eye movements, guided by a credentialed EMDR therapist, while focusing on traumatic and/or emotionally charged memories. Researchers believe that EMDR works by engaging similar brain mechanisms as those involved in rapid eye movement (REM) sleep.
Trauma Informed Therapy:
Trauma-informed therapy is an approach to mental health treatment that recognizes the widespread impact of trauma and understands potential paths for recovery. This therapeutic approach emphasizes creating a safe, trusting environment for trauma survivors and aims to avoid re-traumatization. It's particularly helpful for trauma survivors as it acknowledges that their experiences have shaped their responses to the world around them.
By focusing on building a sense of safety, empowerment, and choice, trauma-informed therapy helps survivors regain a sense of control over their lives. This approach also recognizes that trauma can affect various aspects of a person's life, including their physical health, emotional well-being, relationships, and worldview.
As such, it takes a holistic view of healing, addressing not just the traumatic events themselves, but also their broader impacts. This can lead to improved coping skills, reduced symptoms of post-traumatic stress, and an enhanced ability to form healthy relationships. Ultimately, trauma-informed therapy aims to help survivors move from a place of survival to one of growth and resilience.
